Review of the Tea House Chinese restaurant Larbert

Larbert now has a quality Chinese restaurant following the opening of the Tea House in May 2013.  This is the sister restaurant of the hugely popular Cotton House Chinese restaurant in Longcroft.

The Tea House opened with little publicity, with just a small sign outside the door, but is already very popular so it is best to book in advance. We booked a table for 4 at 6PM on Saturday the 11th May.

Since it was dry evening, we decided to walk to the restaurant, stopping by the Outside Inn on route to have a drink.

The Tea House car park was small but very busy. On walking in we discovered the reason why, counter for ordering takeaways was just inside and around 10 people were waiting on takeaway food.

We we shown to a nice booth for 4.  The restaurant has just been fully renovated and the quality of the carpets, tables and fixture and fittings was very high.

We were given menus and served with Chinese tea which made a refreshing start to our visit.  Prawn crackers we also served whilst we studied the menu.

The menu at the Tea House is a mixture of Chinese, Thai and Malaysian.  A photo of the menu is shown below.

The Tea House offers a 4 course dinner for 2 for £24,50 each.  We knew from eating at the Cotton House that the portions were normally very large, so decided to order starters and main courses off the main menu.

For starters I had the Crispy Fried Wan Ton, my wife had the Crispy Pancake Rolls and my children both had the Chicken and Sweetcorn soup.

My Crispy Fried Wan Tons were served with a piping hot sweet and sour dip and were very nice.

For main courses we had Kung Po Chicken, Chicken Satay and  Thai Sensation Chicken.

The food at the Tea House Chinese restaurant in Larbert was excellent.  The service was also very good, the staff had been trained over the last few weeks at the Cotton House in Longcroft which has the same owners.

We highly recommend the restaurant and look forward to eating there again. Overall rating 9 out of 10.

The Tea House Chinese Restaurant is located at Larbert Cross.  The building was formally the Red Lion Hotel. The address is:
